A downloadable pamphlet template

This is a template for creating a tri-fold adventure pamphlet for any tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG). The template is available for Google Docs, Canva and Microsoft Word Online.

The pamphlet is an A4 tri-fold layout that is easy to print at home - simply print out the first page, place the paper back into the printer tray, and print the second page.

This template will work for any TTRPG and includes a usage guide, font recommendations, layout suggestions, OSR-style tables, and more. I used this template to create all of the adventures in the Kiwi Acres adventure collection for Mausritter as well as the solo journaling game Corporate Onboarding.

Open up the link to your preferred platform in the downloads section and follow the instructions in the pamphlet to start using it. You can also download the PDF example.

Why use this template?

  • No additional or paid software  is needed - all you need is your web browser
  • You don't need any special design skills or knowledge to use it
  • Tri-fold pamphlets are easy to print at home with any printer
  • The tri-fold format is super convenient for any GM to use
  • It's free to use
  • You can make any changes you like to create your own personal template
  • It includes OSR-style tables that are already set up and simple to extend

Whatever you create with this template can be used for any purpose, whether personal or commercial. If you do use it, please provide attribution to this page and drop a comment below linking to your project.

A note about different browsers

This template works correctly in all major browsers. It's good to note, however, that some browsers render fonts in Google Docs at slightly different sizes and I have made sure that all versions of this template look good and export correctly in all major browsers - Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Microsoft Edge.

This template is available in the public domain (i.e. CC0). You are free to use or modify it in any way you like and use it for any product, commercial or otherwise. You don't have to provide attribution to this page when you use it, but a link back to say that you did would be appreciated.

The artwork used in this pamphlet template is by Stoneshore, the location map came from watabou’s dungeon generator, and the original layout inspiration is from Guilherme Gontijo’s template.

These are nice!  I dropped a link on the FIST TTRPG discord channel, hopefully that sends some clicks your way.  Trifolds are becoming the gold standard for mission/scenario design over there.

Oh, awesome - thanks for sharing the template! If you or anyone in the FIST community have ideas for improvements here then I'm happy to hear them.

I've always found the tri-fold pamphlet adventure to be a great format: portable, easy to read, and concise. This template is a very accessible way to start designing in this format without having to purchase specific publishing software.

NOTE: The text columns appeared misaligned in Firefox but worked fine when exported. They appear fine in Chrome.

I agree about the tri-fold format - it's very usable and so simple for anyone to print at home.

Thanks for the note about Firefox - I'll do some cross-browser testing and update where needed.

I tested this out in a few different browsers and you're right - it displays incorrectly in Firefox and Safari, even though the PDF export still comes out fine. That seems to be due to how those two browsers render the fonts - they increase the size slightly, which pushes the layouts out. I'll add some browser notes to the page here about all that.

UPDATE: I have edited the template to work in all major browsers, so it should be good to go for everyone now.

As a Firefox user, thank you very much! 😊
