Beneath the Owls' Gaze
A downloadable stealthy adventure
Deep within Kiwi Acres lies a solitary hut, home to a parliament of owls. Recently, the blue ducks of Whawhai Pond have been left with empty nests as their eggs have gone missing. The owls are to blame! They have been taking the eggs to their hut for their own nefarious purposes - players must retrieve them before they are lost forever.
But the owls are known for their sharp eyes and keen hearing - any noise or movement could alert them. The mice must use all their stealth and cunning to avoid detection and retrieve the stolen eggs. Will they succeed, or will the feathery fiends be too much for them to handle?

How can you use this?
Beneath the Owls' Gaze is set in the Kiwi Acres campaign setting for Mausritter and works best when used in that context in hex #14 on the map. You can alternatively use this as a one-shot adventure in your own games or plug it into an existing campaign.

If you are not using Kiwi Acres, the standard Mausritter tables should suffice. Creature details are included in the freely available New Zealand Bestiary.

A nice heist adventure! I love when adventures can avoid combat and this one has a great reason to do it: owls are notable predators to mice! But the hook is also great: duck eggs being stolen and experimented upon!
I think that the best thing about the adventure is that you can pick the random encounters by hand so that you can increase or decrease the tension as you want as they approach the tower, even if the awareness tracker doesn't change.
There's one thing I'd change. Having the passcode hidden in corners around the map isn't explained, feels a bit videogamey. I would maybe paint it on the floor so it's readable from the tower as a "secret in plain view" password reminder. That way mice don't know if a 1 is just a line, or that other sign is a 7 or an L, a 6 or a 9, etc.
All in all a great adventure packed excellently in a trifold pamphlet.
Thanks for this excellent feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the stealth mechanics and how it is all laid out - I worked hard to make that practical and interesting to play.
That's a fair point about the hidden passcode - I'll see if I can rework it a bit to make it feel more natural, without losing the core of the adventure.
