The Rending of the Sun

The Rending of the Sun is a TTRPG adventure written for both Knave 2e and Mausritter. There are two different versions to download, with slight differences depending on which game you are playing.

For the first time in countless millennia, the sun’s path has changed. No longer tracing its usually reliable route through the heavens, the shining orb is moving lower in the sky and coming closer to the earth than ever before.

The Cult of Endless Night hails this as the coming of the Solar Rending - an event for which they have been watching and waiting. They have gathered in their ancient tree to perform their rituals, set on ensnaring the sun, and destroying it for good.

At the same time, the celestial event is wreaking havoc with the natural elements. Temperatures are fluctuating wildly and the magic structure of the world even more so, making spells unreliable. No longer able to rely on magic, the Order of Mages is begging for help to stop the cult.

It is well-known that the Cult of Endless Night has gathered an impressive collection of magical artefacts. Anyone entering their domain will certainly have a chance to plunder their stores.

Will you brave the cult, forge your destiny, and put a stop to the rending? Or will you join the cult and share in their dark power?

This adventure introduces five new items, including a powerful 2-handed sword, and four new opponents, including shadow spectres and fog elementals.

With the unstable magic in the area of this adventure, this is a great place to use the Feral Magic module for Mausritter (that can easily be adapted for Knave).

Note that this adventure will be free to download until the Knave 2e Adventure Game Jam is complete.

The adventure is available for Knave and Mausritter in A5 trifold, spreads, and singles. Download your preferred format for the game you are playing, and print what you need. Spreads and singles are easy to print at home, while the trifold pamphlet offers the best layout experience.

The downloads also include player-facing maps for both games, and item cards for Mausritter.
